My latest project is the RF detector wristband. It is a wearable electronics project that indicates if RF transmitters are working.

wristband
It uses a simple 2 diode detector circuit and a transistor to amplify the demodulated signal and drive the LED.

wristband
It works well on mobile phones and UHF transmitters. I built the circuit into a wristband because it gives you a free hand when you're testing a transmitter unit.

wristband
The battery is fitted into a pouch that uses the 2 button clips as battery terminals.

wristband
It all fits together, with the battery pouch under the circuit and the antennae located in the arm bands.

This project is not to be used to communicate with the robot planet.

MemAxe is an electronic game that tests your memory by making you copy a sequence of sounds using switches. The sounds emulate those of old 8-bit game consoles.

ekitty

eKitty is a cat cushion with an LCD photo frame built into its head. The idea behind eKitty was to see the reaction of people when a simple cute toy could show them some kind of emotion. In this case smile, smirk, wink, sleep, and happy.

ekitty
My kids are fascinated by the changing faces of the eKitty, you can give it big cuddles as well.

ekitty

The small 2.4in LCD photo frame is build into the head of the ekitty, and two small buttons on the side of the head allow access for charging the battery. A fabric switch is built into eKitties ear and connected to the main PCB of the LCD photoframe. This switch turns the unit on and off. Credit goes to Leah Buechley for the fabric switch design.

The next BYO has been posted, it's a fun game called MemSounds. It will test your memory by playing sounds in a sequence, then getting you to enter the sequence back into a keypad.

You can find the instructions over here: BYO
